Use a Preset

You can further customize the settings after selecting a preset. This is just a starting point

General Options

Editing Mode:

Name

Something descriptive. Does not impact indexing or downloading (required)

Output path template

Must end with .{{ ext }}. See below for more details. The default is good for most cases (required)

Subtitle Options

Download Subtitles

Downloads subtitle files alongside media file

Embed Subtitles

Downloads and embeds subtitles in the media file itself, if supported. Uneffected by 'Download Subtitles'

Use Autogenerated Subtitles

Prefers normal subs with 'Download Subtitles' or 'Embed Subtitles' but will use autogenerated subs if needed.

Subtitle Languages

Use commas for multiple languages (eg: en,de)

Audio Track Language

Only works if there are multiple audio tracks. Use either a language code, 'original' for the original audio track, or 'default' for YouTube's preference. Or just leave it blank

Thumbnail Options

Download Thumbnail

Downloads thumbnail alongside media file

Embed Thumbnail

Downloads and embeds thumbnail in the media file itself, if supported. Uneffected by 'Download Thumbnail' (recommended)

Metadata Options

Download Metadata

Downloads metadata file alongside media file

Embed Metadata

Downloads and embeds metadata in the media file itself, if supported. Uneffected by 'Download Metadata' (recommended)

Quality Options

Preferred Resolution

Will grab the closest available resolution if your preferred is not available. 'Audio Only' grabs the highest quality m4a

Media Container

Don't change this if you're going to consume media via Plex. Leave blank for default

Redownload Delay (days)

Delay in days until new media is redownloaded. Redownloading new media can improve its quality or SponsorBlock tags. Leave blank to not redownload

Media Center Options

Everything in this section is experimental - please open a GitHub issue if you see something odd. These options only work if this Media Profile's output template is set to split media into seasons. Try the "Media Center" preset if you're not sure.

Download NFO data (pro)

Downloads NFO data alongside media file for use with Jellyfin, Kodi, etc.

Download Series Images

Downloads poster and banner images for use with Plex, Jellyfin, Kodi, etc. Only works for full channels (not playlists)

SponsorBlock Options

SponsorBlock Behaviour

Action to take when SponsorBlock segments are found. 'Disabled' won't take any action

Output Template Syntax

When generating an output template, you have 3 options for syntax:

Liquid-style: /{{ channel }}/{{ title }} - {{ id }}.{{ ext }}
yt-dlp-style : /%(channel)s/%(duration>%H-%M-%S)s-%(id)s.%(ext)s
Any bare words: /videos/1080p/{{ id }}.{{ ext }}

Apart from custom aliases, the liquid-style syntax maps 1:1 to the yt-dlp-style syntax behind-the-scenes. This means that any single-word yt-dlp option can be used as liquid-style and it's automatically made filepath-safe. For example, the {{ duration }} option is translated to %(duration)S

Major 🔑: these syntaxes can be mixed and matched freely! I prefer to use liquid-style and bare words but I'll include yt-dlp-style when I need more control. For example: /1080p/{{ channel }}/{{ title }}-(%(subtitles.en.-1.ext)s).{{ ext }}

NOTE: Your template must end with an extension option (.{{ ext }} or .%(ext)S). Downloading won't work as expected without it.

Template Options

Any single-word yt-dlp option can be used with the curly braced liquid-style syntax. This is just a list of the most common options as well as some custom aliases

Media Center Custom Aliases

{{ season_by_year__episode_by_date }} - Season YYYY/sYYYYeMMDD
{{ season_by_year__episode_by_date_and_index }} - same as the above but it handles dates better. This is the recommended option
{{ static_season__episode_by_index }} - Season 1/s01eXX where XX is the video's position in the playlist. Only recommended for playlists (not channels) that don't change
{{ static_season__episode_by_date }} - Season 1/s01eYYMMDD. Recommended for playlists that might change or where order isn't important

{{ source_custom_name }} - the name of the sources that use this profile
{{ source_collection_id }} - the YouTube ID of the sources that use this profile
{{ source_collection_name }} - the YouTube name of the sources that use this profile (often the same as source_custom_name)
{{ source_collection_type }} - the collection type of the sources using this profile. Either 'channel' or 'playlist'
{{ artist_name }} - the name of the artist with fallbacks to other uploader fields
{{ season_from_date }} - alias for upload_year
{{ season_episode_from_date }} - the upload date formatted as sYYYYeMMDD
{{ season_episode_index_from_date }} - the upload date formatted as sYYYYeMMDDII where II is an index to prevent date collisions
{{ media_playlist_index }} - the place of the media item in the playlist. Do not use with channels. May not work if the playlist is updated
{{ media_item_id }} - the ID of the media item in Pinchflat's database
{{ source_id }} - the ID of the source in Pinchflat's database
{{ media_profile_id }} - the ID of the media profile in Pinchflat's database
